Uses: Mostly D&D stuff like a cleric's Hit Die and broadsword damage. In fact, it's a good all-purpose damage die for a variety of games (Call of Cthulhu, for example), being just above the average d6, and because thematically, it's a sharp-edged caltrop derivative. Mostly however, d8 can be used to simulate gems in your games, and many have converted them to jewelry.
Beloved because: Cheaper than diamonds. Relatively easy to spin, but not TOO easy. And who doesn't love a broadsword?Hated because: Another tender foot alert.
