The UnderToy
Earlier this month, the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY nominated three news toys to its National Toy Hall of Fame. Among these, a true underdog of toys, and yet, who hasn't played with one? Ladies and gentlemen, joining such luminaries as Monopoly, Mr. Potato Head and the Easy-Bake Oven, I give you...The Stick!
Give it up for 'im!Yes, the lowly wooden stick. Free in most environments. As useful to artists as it is to warriors. It can be a writing implement, a machine gun, part of a fort, an antenna, a sword, a wizard's staff, a witch's broom, a horse, a pole vault... uhm... pole, and lots more besides.
Thanks its longevity and ability to spark the imagination like no other piece of inanimate matter, the stick has become a world icon. I've always hated Monopoly, and your enjoyment of the Baby Doll may vary, but there's nothing like a good whacking stick, is there?
LONG LIVE THE STICK!!!Proof
