PLOT: Harry Mudd swears he doesn't know why the Nasgul and her Klingon weapons smuggler friend are after him. The Nasgul desperately wants her artifact back, since it may reunite the Nasgul people under real leadership, not her half-brother's corrupt regime. The Klingon commodore is back, investigating Klingon wrongdoing in the sector. And the colony leader wants Starfleet to give him guns so he can fight the Nasgul and Klingon troublemakers. He gets shot for his trouble, but by whom...?
CONTINUITY: Harry Mudd.
DIVERGENCES: Mudd comments on the events of ST III, though his last appearance occured after ST IV. It's old news.
PANEL OF THE DAY - Stealing McCoy's schtick.
REVIEW: While the issue moves the plot along fine, it does go overboard with exposition. The Nasgul has a "you dare ask me a question, worm? Very well..." moment, and Harry reacts to the events of the last 4 films, like we don't know what happened in them. Weinstein hasn't abandonned his Klingon commodore character, which might promise a longer overall arc based on Federation-Klingon politics in that sector. Might be interesting, though I predict the storyline will be undercut by ST VI. Weinstein also seems to like Chekov more than the average writer, which is good for the character, I suppose.
